Fig and Prosciutto Pizza
In this Fig Jam Prosciutto Pizza recipe, sweet fig jam is spread out and acts as the “sauce” before being topped with melted cheese.
- Preheat oven to 475F
- If you have your dough frozen, allow it to defrost in the fridge and then let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before you are ready to handle it.
- The dough masters at Portland Pie say: "The trick to stretching pizza dough is to get it as flat and round as possible BEFORE you pick it up. Lightly coat the dough in flour and push flat with palm, then pick up the dough and stretch to desired size. "
- Use fig jam as base instead of tomato sauce. You can use a variety of cheeses. If you don't have fresh mozzarella, try grated or your favorite mixture. Even a little bit of Bradbury Mountain Blue crumbled on top would go very well with this. Top with proscuitto.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown and garnish with fresh basil leaves
If you don't have fresh mozzarella, try using your favorite mixture. We recommend topping with arugula, balsamic glaze, grated fontina, or parmesan cheese
