Today, 43% of all Maine Public School children rely on school meals to get the nutrition they need. And even though these students qualify for school meals, too many of them face barriers to accessing school meals. Full Plates Full Potential works to ensure that every eligible child has access to nutritious food so that they can learn, grow and thrive.

Their work focuses on increasing participation in school breakfast, afterschool meals, and summer meal programs. Through advocacy, technical assistance, and their FEED KIDS Grants, we work directly with schools across the state to help them feed more kids.

How does Full Plates Full Potential help our kids?

  • Working on boosting participation in school meals by Increasing Access – Maine schools and organizations often need support to connect eligible kids with the nutritious meals they need to learn, grow and thrive.
  • Removing Barriers – Full Plates Full Potential works to break down the barriers to food access that often exist in schools by empowering them to change the way they serve their meals and making food more accessible to hungry kids.
  • Investing in Our Schools – Full Plates Full Potential is investing critical funds and raising awareness in schools to help increase participation in USDA Child Nutrition programs that ultimately connect kids with the meals they need.
